Fairtrade Journey of Food
As part of our Maps and Journey's topic, we wanted to learn about the journey of food. We researched how food is grown in different countries, how it is packed and shipped and finally reaches our shops. We concentrated on Fairtrade food and what being a Fairtrade farmer means. Once the food reached our shops, we wanted to use the Fairtrade products to make some food of our own, so we all went to Sainsbury's and bought Fairtrade ingredients to make cupcakes. We then made the cupcakes withthe help of Miss Cresswell and the parents of Friends of Dunkirk, and sold them to raise money for Unicef. We raised £40! We had loads of fun and by being involved in all processes, we understand the journey of food even more. See our pictures below.
Maple's animal sanctury
With Parmjit and Miss Taylor, we have been 'running' an African sanctuary. We have built everything that the animals need, researched the animals and presented our findings to the group. We placed these in order of importance - love me, inspire me, teach me, feed me and shelter me for humans and animals, as well as looking through scenarios of different animals turning up at the sanctuary with a variety of problems.
