Thank you to all the parents who came to the Stay and Play session!
The children loved showing you what they do in school and we hope you picked up some useful ideas on how to support your child's learning at home.
Please have a look below at some of the comments from our parents and photos of the event. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
"Really good to see children motivated to learn through play and to know the curriculum is modified around the children's needs or interests"
"Very useful to know how our kids mornings are, good to see what they do at school, good to know how the snack time goes on and good to have a reminder of the overall philosophy and the range of materials / activities available"
"Thank you for having us - love all the effort and creativity you put in, the choice of activities and the warm but structured atmosphere. The children are clearly genuinely and gently cared for. Proud to send her here."
"Brilliant! Good to see how they learn and the activities they do at school. Would have been useful to see how phonics, literacy / numeracy are taught so we can mirror this at home and get some ideas."
"It was really good, nice to see what Dontay's been doing and the staff."
"I found the session informative and saw my child playing/learning confidently in a loving environment. The teachers really understand each child as an individual. I came home with a very warm glow!"
Work in the studio
Its really exciting and inspiring to have a studio space at Abbey Campus; this is inspired by several things, including the work of the Reggio Emilia Schools in Italy (there’s a bit more information on Miss Claire’s website). The studio space is used for testing out ideas and exploring materials – think of it as a sort of mix between an art studio and a science lab!
Apple and Olive have been using the space, below are some images of Apple experimenting with light, projections and patterns with Miss Claire.
