Rushcliffe Country Park visit
Mango really enjoyed going to Rushcliffe Country Park. We went tree and leaf hunting, on the ladybird trail, on the pirate park and exercise machines, in the sensory and sound garden, and even did a flash mob in front of lots of people and Mrs Alford.
The journey of money
Mango have been visited this week
by a PFEG (Personal Financial Education Group) volunteer to help us understand
the journey of money. This is part of our 'centre of excellence for financial
education' award. Neal supported us in understanding the journey of money from
employer to employee, business to person,. person to shop. The children acted
out being shop keepers, bankers, employees and managers interviewing
interviewees. We had great fun.
Mango have been working with Miss
Claire to create some protest art that will be exhibited in February half term
in an art gallery - time and place to be conformed. The children talked about
protests around the world as well as what they strongly believe in and what
they would like to protest about and how.
Nature treasure hunt - October 2014
As part of our Greed and Power topic, we wanted to investigate the power of plants and trees. We went on a nature treasure hunt and collected lots of items that the trees didn't need anymore, like fallen leaves, conkers, sticks, acorns and seeds. We then made powerful leaf men out of them and had a go at Andy Goldsworthy style art. Have a look at our pictures below to see how good we are at art!
Insulation
We have been looking at different materials and how well they keep things warm. We went to the field on Wednesday to test some materials to see how hot they kept hot chocolate. It was very cold but we had lots of fun! Yesterday we recorded our results on the computer and made a graph with them. Here are some examples of what we found.
